When summer arrives, I normally swap up my makeup

When summer arrives, I normally swap up my makeup routine to something more light-weight and go for a glowy look. And, as a newer mom, I’m always looking for a simple makeup routine and I think I’ve found one I like!

I’m obsessed with this tinted moisturizer. I have a lot of redness in my face and feel like this covered nicely and is super light weight. My skin had changed over the last year and I’ve had a lot of dryness in my cheeks and forehead, and this one has hyaluronic acid. So I’m combination with my skincare, I love how this tinted moisturizer wears on my skin.

The products:
-Colourpop tinted moisturizer in shade 7N
-Benefit Goof Proof brow pencil in shade 4
-ELF brow lift to freeze my brows in place/tame them 😂
-A liquid or cream blush. Picked up the ELF monochromatic multi stick in luminous berry. I use the ELF putty blush brush for any kind of liquid/cream blush and it applies amazing!
-A liquid/cream contour. Got my hands on the ELF halo contour wand in medium and I love it! Looks like they are in stock online at Ulta 🏃🏻‍♀️.
-Liquid highlighter for a great glow. I use the Iconic London illuminator in original. It’s a little pricey at $40 BUT it lasts forever. A little goes a long way!
-This Milani Lash Extensions Tubing Mascara has quickly become my favorite for my short sad little lashes that don’t curl well.
-I’ve been very into a glossy lip lately. My current faves are the Tarte Maracuja plumping lip in Honeysuckle (very much like black honey from Clinique #iykyk). Also love the NYX fat drip lip oil!
-You don’t have to have a setting spray for this look, but my new go-to has been the ELF stay all night spray.

Eight years ago ➡️ Today

The difference? It may look like weight loss and there is 80 lbs difference, but the true difference is how I speak to myself and think about myself. I used to have such negative thoughts and beat myself up about how I looked. When I worked on the inside, started drinking more water and changed the way I thought about food, and moved my body in a way that I enjoyed (baton twirling and chasing kids these days 😂) that’s when the weight gradually came off without me even noticing. It was when I stopped hyper focusing on my weight and weighing myself constantly that the weight loss became a side effect of the work I was doing on myself. While it may sound a little dramatic, after having cancer I could no longer spend time on criticizing myself because I realized life is so short and I don’t want to spend the rest of my life fixated on my weight.

I’m so thankful I met @realchrispowell and @realheidipowell through trying out for Extreme Weight Loss just a little over 9 years ago. Those lessons on working on the inside still resonate all these years later and helped me set what I hope is a good example for my teenage daughters in learning to love their bodies for where they are today, and always speaking kindly to themselves. ❤️ #bodypositive #effyourbeautystandards #effyourbodystandards

It feels so good to finally feel comfortable in my own skin. I struggled for years with body image and while I still have some rough days, I have worked so much on speaking kindly to myself and making choices to enjoy moving my body and not restricting food or working out to punish myself.

I went to Ft. Lauderdale for work this week and got to enjoy the beach each evening and had the best time walking the beach, wading out into the ocean and sitting and reading. Not one nasty thought about my body, not one fear that others might look at me. I just felt immense peace and that felt so good.

I love the way this suit from @torrid fits me. I bought it last year and it’s held up really well! They still have it available in black, along with other fun colors and prints. And it’s half off today! Linked in my bio if you’re interested 😊

It’s been about a year since I posted to Instagr

It’s been about a year since I posted to Instagram, and what a year it’s been! While we fostered, we couldn’t post any pictures of our kids and it made it tough to feel like I could authentically share my life, plus figuring out how to be a Mom to a 6 and 16 year-old didn’t leave much time for fashion or makeup content I love. It’s been almost a year since we adopted Ben and almost 8 months since we adopted Lindsey.
